Browns have been operating since July 2005. Marie Brown Owner and Managing Director started the company working from home and after a couple of years the business grew and resulted in hiring the Chain Lane Community Centre to run the office and the group work sessions three times per week.
In October 2011 we moved into our own premises on Nunn Street, Parr, St Helens.
Browns Short Break Respite Ltd provides support for adults with all types of disabilities to live independently within their community. Among the different types of support areas we provide are:
- Supporting people to reach their goals
- Personal Care
- Medication (Assistance or Administering)
- Meal Preparation
- Household chores
- Supporting people with activities of their choice (Such as swimming & gym)
- Supported employment
- Taking to appointments
- Shopping calls
- Supported living
- Respite Holidays
- Respite at home
- Waking night
What makes our service unique is that it is a flexible service which enables you to change the support you require on a weekly basis so you have the freedom to plan your care and support needs around your life and not planning your life around your care.
At our centre we have various activities and days out running from Monday – Saturday each week with a Disco every other Thursday people are informed what’s on by a leaflet which is published every month. The centre has changing facilities, a small sensory room and a computer room, a kitchen area where baking & cooking takes place as well as two large halls where the rest of the activities/games take place. Off-site we rent an allotment where we go on a daily basis the site is accessible and a perfect place to access for all the Green Fingers out there.
We have several accessible vehicles which enables us to collect people and drop them off if they should require it for coming to the centre.
We have an Accessible Caravan located at Presthaven Sands in North Wales which people access for their respite holidays.
In April/May 2015 Browns Short Break Respite Ltd are opening a four bedroom respite centre which will be located on the 1st floor this will be completely accessible and will cater for each individuals needs
